The visual arts festival for Lewes District

Artwave is the annual visual arts festival for the Lewes District in East Sussex, showcasing the inspirational works of local artists and makers in venues across the District. From farmhouses to metal workshops, gardens to industrial sites, visual art is displayed for all to enjoy and the event is a must for any creative diary.

Artwave offers a fantastic opportunity for visitors to view artwork by experts and novices side by side, with the opportunity to buy pieces directly from the artists and makers - finding out exactly what moved them to create.

From workshops to galleries, old Warehouses, even someone's home or garden take time to explore - you're bound to find the art wave!

Competitions
Each year Artwave holds competitions, including the annual Artwave Art Competition sponsored by the Order of Bards Ovates & Druids.

Order of Bards Ovates & Druids Art Award
For the third year running 'The Order of the Bards Ovates and Druids Art Competition' offered a cash prize of £100 to the best representation of 'Elements'. Entries were on display at the Crypt Gallery, Seaford from September 9 to 12, 2008. First prize was awarded to winners Janette Statton and Naomi Browne, with two runners up - Dorothy Valenti and Susan Penock. This event was covered by The Argus and Meridian Television, Friday 19 September and Wednesday 10 September.

The Open House Competition
As in previous years, 'Latest' publications sponsored and administered The Open House competition, which offered visitors the chance to vote for the best 'Open House' during Artwave 2008. The winner was Jo Allen - St Martins Cottage, Steyne Road, Seaford. Newhaven Fort also sponsored the event by offering a prize of an annual family pass to one voter picked randomly to Mrs H Cook of Peacehaven.
